Guests talked about a Supreme Court case on global warming. The Court heard arguments in Massachusetts v EPA as to whether the Clean Air Act authorizes the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate the amount of carbon dioxide that comes from car emissions -- greenhouse gases that are said to cause global warming. Mr. Bookbinder had filed a brief with Massachusetts and other states and environmental groups to force EPA to comply with the Clean Air Act’s provisions requiring it to regulate any air pollutant that “endangers public health or welfare.” Mr. Glaser filed a brief with the Washington Legal Foundation supporting the EPA’s claim that they do not have authority to regulate air pollutants associated with climate change. close
