Secretary Rumsfeld spoke to reporters about operations in Iraq and Department of Defense priorities for the region. He also talked about the president’s policy of setting “benchmarks” for success in Iraq. In his answers to reporters' questions he said that critics should “just back off” on demands for deadlines in Iraq and that it was difficult to predict when Iraqis will resume control of their country, adding that timelines had no specific deadlines, or consequences if goals were not met by specific dates. close
