Finding the Target
Frederick Kagan talked about his book Finding The Target: The Transformation of American Military Policy, published by Encounter Books. He blames the problems America is facing in both Iraq and Afghanistan on poor military planning. He said that the Bush administration has a misunderstanding of war and has to focus on more than just defeating the enemy but also on obtaining the political objectives of the battle. Mr. Kagan was joined in discussion by Michael O’Hanlon, author of Hard Power: The New Politics of National Security, published by Basic Books. They responded to questions from members of the audience. close
