They also talked about the impact of the U.S. invasion of Iraq on regional politics, Syria’s interests in Lebanon and the region, the emergence of Iran as a regional power, and possible impact of negotiations between the U.S., Syria and Iran on the future of Iraq. They also talked about regional political tensions resulting from sectarian tensions, the future of Palestine, control of oil reserves.
