Anthony Shadid talked about Lebanon and described his visits to Southern Lebanon and his ancestral village. He also talked about his coverage of the recent Israeli invasion of Lebanon and Lebanon’s future within the broader framework of global and Middle Eastern politics. He also talked about his book, Night Draws Near: Iraq’s People in the Shadow of America’s War, published by Picador USA. Mr. Shadid won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 2004 for his coverage of the war in Iraq. He described his experiences in Iraq from just prior to the American invasion to the January 2005 Iraqi elections. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions. close
