Ambassador Durrani talked about proposals from both Pakistani and Afghan leaders to organize meetings of tribal leaders in an effort to end Taliban activity on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He said that this effort, agreed upon during talks with President Bush, comes after Afghan leaders claimed that Taliban fighters operate from sanctuaries in Pakistan. The ambassador responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
