Susan and Joseph Trento talked about their book Unsafe at Any Altitude: Failed Terrorism Investigations, Scapegoating 9/11, and the Shocking Truth about Aviation Security Today, published by Steerforth. Topics included the U.S. government’s investigations of airport security following the September 11 terrorist attacks and an assessment of the state of airport security today. The authors argued that the private airport security workers that received a large amount of blame following the attacks did their jobs properly and that the takeover of airport security by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has not helped to improve security. They also discussed the U.S. government’s no-fly list and its effectiveness. After their presentation they responded to audience members' questions. close
