Allan Greenberg talked with Professor Rybczynski about his book Architecture of Democracy: The Founding Fathers' Vision for America, published by Rizzoli. They discussed the deep connection between America’s architectural tradition and political ideals. He showed slides from his book and described the ideas behind them. Topics included the U.S. Capitol Building, the absence of altars and thrones, public buildings across the U.S., and Washington’s and Jefferson’s ideals. After their conversation Mr. Greenberg responded to audience members' questions.

This was the third in a series of conversations with significant voices in American architecture presented by Rizzoli and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America. The event was held in the library at the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen. close
