Jeff Sypeck talked about his book, Becoming Charlemagne: Europe, Baghdad, and the Empires of A.D. 800, published by Ecco. He described Charlemagne’s rise from a Frankish king to the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. It details how the leader built his empire and how he ultimately shaped Europe’s future. After his presentation the author responded to audience members' questions.
