President Bush responded to reporters' questions concerning the economic sanctions placed on Iraq following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in August, 1990, during a photo opportunity in a Cabinet meeting in the White House. President Bush said the U.S. does not have anything against the women and children of Iraq, but rather against the government of Iraq. He said the issue had not been fully resolved as to what the U.S. intended to do about the famine and disease among the population in Iraq. close
