Rep. Schroeder, member of the House Post Office and Civil Service committee, spoke at a conference on community services sponsored by the AFL-CIO. In her remarks, the co-chair of the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues urged the administration to create a domestic agenda as complete and far-reaching as the foreign affairs agenda was concerning the Persian Gulf war. She stated that following the conservative appointments to the Supreme Court, only two branches of government exist when formerly there were three. Rep. Schroeder spoke on the policy issues affecting American families, which she defined as “wherever you go at night and they have to let you in.” She discussed economic issues facing the American family, which she said was the most overtaxed family on the face of the Earth, as well as education and other domestic issues. close
