Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former member of the Dutch parliament, talked about her autobiography, Infidel, published by The Free Press. Ms. Hirsi Ali, who was born into a Muslim family in Somalia, collaborated with filmmaker Theo van Gogh on the movie Submission, which criticized the treatment of women in Islamic societies. Mr. Van Gogh was assassinated in Amsterdam in 2004 by a Muslim man who was offended by the movie. She talked about her experiences and responded to audience members' questions. close
