Jordanian King Abdullah II addressed a Joint Meeting of Congress. In his remarks he talked about the Middle East peace process, the central role the U.S. to future peace agreements in the region, and said that history had shown that progress in Middle East peacemaking was impossible without American leadership. He also spoke of the suffering that both Israelis and Palestinians had experienced, at one point lamenting “the 40 years of occupation” that Palestinians have endured. close
