Fred Charles Ikle talked about his book Annihilation from Within: The Ultimate Threat to Nations, published by Columbia University Press. In this book Mr. Ikle looks at the security threats posed by the rapid advancement and spread of technology in a world where governments can be overtaken by rogue elements. The guest interviewer was John Lehman.

Fred Charles Ikle served as undersecretary of defense for policy during the Reagan administration and as director of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency under Presidents Nixon and Ford. He is currently a distinguished scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a member of the Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board. Mr. Iklé's previous book, Every War Must End, was influential in shaping the strategy for ending the 1991 Gulf War.
