Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) talked about his political memoir, No Retreat, No Surrender: One American’s Fight, published by Sentinel. The book covers his time in the Texas legislature, his election to the U.S. Congress, his role in the 1994 Republican takeover of Congress, his opinions of other politicans, his political battles, and his religious beliefs. In his remarks he talked about his experience in the congressional leadership, working relationships between the leadership and Presidents Clinton and Bush, the role of partisanship in the legislative process, and the current political environment in Washington following the Democratic takeover of both houses of Congress. He also responded to questions from members of the audience. close
