David Blankenhorn and Evan Wolfson debated the question “Should State Legislatures Approve Same-Sex Marriage?” The debate was moderated by Dean Friedman and focused on how state legislatures should approach the issues of equal treatment and protection of citizens, the benefits of marriage over other forms of legal contracts between two people, and the traditional role marriage played in society. They also responded to questions from the audience.
