Dan Gilgoff talks about his book The Jesus Machine: How James Dobson, Focus on the Family, and Evangelical America are Winning the Culture War, published by St. Martin’s Press. The book is a portrait of Focus on the Family and its founder and chairman, James Dobson. The author based the book on interviews with James Dobson, Ted Haggard, Jerry Falwell, and Ralph Reed. He described Focus on the Family’s enormous influence on evangelical Christians and its opposition to gay marriage, abortion, and judicial activism. After his presentation the author responded to audience members' questions. close
