Representative Charles Rangel talked about his book, And I Haven’t Had a Bad Day Since: From the Streets of Harlem to the Halls of Congress, published by Thomas Dunne Books. The book describes his Harlem childhood, his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement, and his nineteen terms as a congressman representing New York’s 15th district. The guest interviewer was Jim Mills, a senior editor for Fox News.

Since 1970 Rep. Rangel, a Democrat, has represented New York’s 15th Congressional District, which comprises East and Central Harlem, the Upper West Side, Washington Heights and Inwood. He is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee board of directors, and a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus. Mr. Rangel served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952, during which time he fought in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He is a graduate of close
