William Hubbard talked about prescription drug safety and the Food and Drug Administration’s drug approval process. The Senate is debating a bill, S. 1082, during the week to change the FDA’s drug approval program, in which drug companies pay fees to the agency to review and approve new pharmaceutical products. He talked about the lack of monitoring and research after a drug is on the market. Mr. Hubbard responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.

Mr. Hubbard is a former FDA senior associate commissioner and his coalition is calling for more funding for FDA drug and food safety programs. close
