The leaders of Honduras and Nicaragua responded to questions from reporters on the results of the Central American summit held in El Salvador. During the summit, the leaders of the Central American countries of El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, accompanied by the leaders of Panama and Chile, advocated the creation of a Central American alliance for security and trade and proposed a free trade agreement between the U.S. and the Central American countries. The news conference was conducted in Spanish, with an English translation supplied over the speakers' remarks. close
