Benjamin Ginsberg and Jeff Wice continued to respond to viewers' comments about redistricting while waiting for the New Hampshire Democratic Party picnic to begin. Sen. Joseph Lieberman delivered the opening address at the picnic and outlined the political issues that he felt needed to be addressed by United States legislators. Former Senator Paul Tsongas was the first featured speaker, who explained that the United States needed domestic economic reform immediately to keep from falling behind as a world financial leader. Senator Tom Harkin spoke later and expressed his belief that the United States was ready to abandon the recent trends of Republican domination in the White House. He continued by stating that “what we have to do is enunciate a new economic policy for the 1990s” by investing in the people. close
