Michael Quinn spoke live from the front porch of Montpelier, the home of James Madison in Orange, Virginia. He talked about the legacy and contributions made by the fourth president, his estate, and the current renovations being done at Montpelier.

Rebecca Gilmore Coleman spoke about her great-grandfather, George Gilmore, who was a slave on the estate and the use of slave labor at Montpelier. Descendants of slaves that worked on the Montpelier estate were attending a reunion there. Also shown was a cabin that George Gilmore built on adjacent property that he purchased from the Madison family upon emancipation. Ms. Coleman donated the cabin to Montpelier and it is now part of the estate. The guests responded to telephone calls. close
