Jacqueline Salit talked by remote connection from New York City about Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his influence as a possible independent candidate in the 2008 presidential race. Bloomberg has not said he will run, but he announced his re-registration as an Independent. Ms. Salit talked about the independent movement. She responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.

Ms. Salit is the political director of the Committee for a Unified Independent Party and the communications director for the New York City Independence Party. In the latter capacity she ran both of Michael Bloomberg’s mayoral campaigns on the Independence Party line in 2001 and 2005. close
