Mr. Garbus talked about his book The Next 25 Years: The New Supreme Court and What It Means for Americans, published by Seven Stories Press. Trial lawyer and legal commentator Martin Garbus described the direction of the Supreme Court since the confirmation of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Sam Alito. He said that these two justices are threats to civil rights and environmental law. Other topics included possible Supreme Court vacancies, appointment of federal judges, media coverage of the court, and various federal cases. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions.

Martin Garbus, a First Amendment attorney who is defending Don Imus in a dispute with CBS, was the guest speaker at the annual awards dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. close
