Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former member of the Dutch parliament, spoke about her collaboration with filmmaker Theo van Gogh on the movie Submission which criticized the treatment of women in Islamic societies. Mr. Van Gogh was assassinated in Amsterdam in 2004 by a Muslim man who was offended by the movie and had threatened Ms. Hirsi Ali. She also talked about the practice of Islam in Western countries and women’s rights issues. She responded to questions submitted by members of the audience. close
