Telephone lines were open for comments on the topic “Two years after Katrina.”

Evy Assaf talked by telephone from New Orleans about the process of recovery for residents. Video clips of the condition of her home on the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina were shown. Today, her house is still being worked on but is not livable. Most of her neighbors' homes are abandoned or demolished. She is living in the second floor of her daughter’s home on high ground. She says she and her neighbors are living “like pioneers.” close
