Minister Yuriko talked about the security of Japan in the 21st century and about the U.S.-Japan alliance. Topics included U.S. aid after the July 16 earthquake in Japan, security problems that included North Korea’s launch of ballistic missiles, the realignment of U.S. forces in Japan, and strengthening relations with countries such as India. She responded to audience members' questions.

The minister delivered her remarks in English. Some of the questions and answers were in Japanese and were translated into English by an interpreter. close
