David Blight talked about his book [A Slave No More: Two Men Who Escaped to Freedom, Including Their Own Narratives of Emancipation, published by Harcourt. He spoke briefly about the history of emancipation in America. He then spoke about his book which chronicles the lives of two former slaves, Wallace Turnage (1846-1916) and John Washington (1838-1918), whose narratives of emancipation were recently discovered. The book includes each of the men’s narratives in its original form. Following his talk he answered questions from members of the audience. close
