Ginger Strand talked about her book Inventing Niagara: Beauty, Power, and Lies (Simon and Schuster; May 6, 2008). In the book she explores the history of Niagara Falls and contends that the Falls are now more a man-made creation and less a product of nature. Ms. Strand profiles the American and Canadian sides of the Falls and the many ways that Niagara Falls has been manipulated to draw tourists. She showed slides during her presentation and responded to questions from members of the audience.

This event was hosted by The Book Corner bookstore in Niagara Falls, New York.

Ginger Strand has written for several publications and is a contributing editor at Orion magazine. She was formerly a fellow in Humanities at Princeton University. close
