Looking forward to the October 2007 U.S. Supreme Court term, each panelist surveyed the cases already on the Court’s docket and those expected to be granted review. Issues included child pornography, the District of Columbia gun ban, the dormant commerce clause, presidential power to compel states to comply with treaty obligations, the meaning of “use” of a firearm during a crime, the constitutionality of a law barring habeas corpus claims by Guantanamo detainees, and federal preemption of state tobacco laws. After their presentations the panelists responded to audience members' questions.
