Iowa Democratic Steak Fry

Democratic presidential candidates spoke to supporters at Senator Tom Harkin’s 30th Annual Steak Fry at the Balloon Field in Indianola, Iowa. After Senator Harkin’s welcoming remarks, the presidential candidates addressed the large crowd on topics such as the war in Iraq, criticisms of the Bush administration, universal health care, welfare reform, immigration issues, stem cell research, and global warming. After the speeches, the candidates mingled with the crowd and greeted supporters.

NOTE: Prior to the live coverage of the steak fry, the first forty minutes of the program consisted of open phones and interviews. Mr. Glover was at the steak fry and was interviewed by the C-SPAN host in Washington, DC. He also responded to viewer telephone calls. Senator Harkin, candidates, and others were interviewed by a C-SPAN host at the steak fry. close
