The House Financial Services Committee held a hearing titled “Legislative and Regulatory Options for Minimizing and Mitigating Mortgage Foreclosures.” Witnesses testified about the President’s recently announced plan to expand FHA programs and review other options for assisting homeowners at risk of foreclosure. Secretaries Henry Paulson and Alphonso Jackson, along with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, talked about the President’s plan and a second panel of consumer advocates and industry representatives focused on other options aimed at helping homeowners avoid foreclosure in the current mortgage market. close
