Nancy Kriplen talked about her book The Eccentric Billionaire: John D. MacArthur - Empire Builder, Reluctant Philanthropist, Relentless Adversary (AMACOM; January 9, 2008). The book documents the life of John D. MacArthur, insurance and real estate magnate who created the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the home of the Genius Award, to prevent the federal government from touching his fortune. She talked about how Mr. MacArthur made his fortune and described his eccentric character. She also discussed the work of the MacArthur Foundation.
