Sir Fred discussed the functions of the European Parliament and its political makeup. The parliament is the deliberative body of the European Community and is comprised of twelve member states. The body serves as a public forum where policy is debated. Members can also amend or reject the European Community’s budget. Sir Fred also described the prospects for economic and political union for the European Community countries, which is scheduled to take place by December 1992. He also shared his views about the potential growth of the European Community in the future. close
