Washington Journal was live from the newsroom of USA Today in McLean, Virginia, in recognition of it 25th anniversary. USA Today was launched as the first national newspaper on September 15, 1982. Editors and reporters talked separately about different aspects of the paper and responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. Editor Ken Paulson talked about the concept of a national newspaper. National News editor Catherine Straight talked about how content is determined.
