Cell Phone Disclosure Practices
“The Communicators” is C-SPAN’s weekly series that examines the people and events that shape telecommunications policy.
Senator Amy Klobuchar, a member of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, talked about cell phone disclosure practices. She has co-sponsored, with Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), the “Cell Phone Empowerment Act of 2007.” The bill, if passed, would give new legislative oversight of the cell phone industry, especially when it comes cell phone rates, fees and disclosure practices. Issues include termination fees, transfering services, and maps of calling areas.
