Edward Larson talked about his book A Magnificent Catastrophe: The Tumultuous Election of 1800, America’s First Presidential Campaign, published by Free Press. In his book Mr. Larson chronicles the American presidential race of 1800, whose list of candidates included, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, and John Adams. He relays the political battle between the Federalists and Republicans that concluded with a closed session of Congress. Mr. Larson read excerpts from his book and responded to questions from members of the audience. close
