Professor Garte talked about environmental issues, saying that the earth is in recovery, not in peril. He is the author of the book, Where We Stand: A Surprising Look at the Real State of Our Planet. Topics included more and better food around the world, endangered species in recovery, laws that succeed in preventing exposure to toxic chemicals, increased freedom and democracy globally helping to improve public health, decreasing cancer deaths, and the reduction of the ozone hole. Mr. Eberstadt commented. After his presentation, Mr. Garte responded to audience members' questions. close
