Yahoo officials testified about their company’s role in the transfer of private information and disclosure of identity to Chinese authorities that resulted in the trial and imprisonment of journalist Shi Tao. Yahoo officials testified about the difficulties of doing business in countries such as China, the history of the Internet in China, and their company’s commitment to protecting human rights globally. Mr. Yang apologized to relatives of Shi Tao who were in the hearing room. Mr. Callahan clarified incorrect information given to the House Foreign Affairs Committee in his February 2006 testimony. close
