Edwidge Danticat talked about her book Brother, I’m Dying, published by Knopf. The book tells the story of her uncle Joseph, a Baptist minister who took care of her as a child in Haiti. Joseph Danticat fled Haiti in 2004, at the age of 81, and came to the U.S. seeking political asylum. Upon arrival, he was imprisoned by U.S. Homeland Security and died while in custody. She responded to telephone calls from viewers.

Ms. Danticat was interviewed aboard the BookTV Bus at the Miami Book Fair International. The program opened with a video clip of Ms. Danticat talking about her book at Karibu Books on September 22, 2007. close
