Representatives Murhta and Obey spoke to reporters about claims made by the Bush administration and Department of Defense that they would be forced to make critical cuts if supplemental spending measures were not approved. They said that the House had already approved a $50 billion measure for “bridge” spending that was being held up by Republicans in the Senate. They also talked about planning for troop withdrawal from Iraq as part of broader regional strategy. close
