Former Governor Michael Dukakis talked about his upbringing, his heritage, and his views on politics. He also reflected on the current political scene. Mr. Dukakis was interviewed on stage for “An Evening with Michael Dukakis” hosted by the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas. He also responded to questions from members of the audience.

Massachusetts Governor Dukakis won the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination but lost the general election to George H. W. Bush. After the election he finished his term as governor. Since June 1991, former Governor Dukakis has been a distinguished professor of political science at Northeastern University and visiting professor at the School of Public Policy and Social Research at UCLA. His research has focused on national health care policy reform and the lessons that national policy makers can learn from state reform efforts. close
