Marc Sageman talked about his book Leaderless Jihad: Terror Networks in the Twenty-First Century, published by University of Pennsylvania Press. His book rejects the idea that certain individuals are predisposed to terrorism. It argues that the individual, outside influence, and group dynamics come together in a four-step process of radicalization that begins with traumatic events that spark moral outrage. Mr. Sageman showed slides during his presentation. He responded to questions from members of the audience. CNN terrorism analyst and New America Foundation fellow Peter Bergen provided commentary. close
