James Connaughton, who led the United States delegation to the climate change summit in Bali, talked about the negotiations on the climate change regime that will succeed the Kyoto Protocol in 2012. He stressed the need for policies that are environmentally effective and economically sound. Topics included the cuttings CO2 emissions, developing a more diverse supply of fuel, and the need to halt deforestation. He also talked about President Bush’s environmental goals for the last year of his presidency. Following his prepared remarks he answered questions from members of the audience. close
