Senator Wayne Allard, Senate Banking Committee member, talked about legislation expected to be debated on the Senate floor this week that includes a provision that would allow bankruptcy judges to cut interest rates and reduce mortgage balances for home owners on the verge of foreclosure. Senator Allard talked about what many Republicans believe will be the long-term effects on the economy if the measure becomes law. The committee is also scheduled to hear from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke later this week on the economy. He responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
