Political scientists and historians debated the foreign and domestic policies of former President Ronald Reagan and assessed him as a president, communicator, and man. Audio tapes of President Reagan’s radio commentaries from the 1970s were played. Topics included his impact on conservatives and how his political legacy was enhanced after the opening of the Soviet archives. Mr. Kengor identified differences between Presidents Reagan and George W. Bush, including differences in communications skills. He pointed out that although President Reagan was able to defeat communism non-militarily there was an advantage to being president at the end of the Cold War compared to being the first post-September 11 president. Charles Dunn moderated. After their prepared remarks panelists answered questions from members of the audience.

The event was held in the Main Theatre of Regent University. close
