Scott Casper and Dennis Pogue conducted this tour of Mount Vernon on March 25, 2008. Mr. Casper discussed the lives of blacks on the estate and Sarah Johnson. Scott Casper is the author of Sarah Johnson’s Mount Vernon: The Forgotten History of an American Shrine (Hill and Wang, January 2008). Dennis Pogue is the associate director for preservation at Mount Vernon. They talked about the histoy of preservation and tourism at Mount Vernon. The presentation was enhanced with illustrations.
