The book chronicles the life of Robert Hunter, an advocate for the working class and poor in the 19th and 20th centuries. Mr. Brawley talked about Robert Hunter’s efforts to bring the existence of widespread poverty to America’s attention with the publication of his book, Poverty, and in his proposed solutions to issues facing those workers, many of which were adopted by states and localities.
