Carter Dougherty reported by telephone from Frankfurt, Germany, about the World Economic Forum. He attended the January 2008 forum in the ski resort town of Davos, Switzerland. He talked about the history of the forum, how it is funded, and the prominent people that usually attend the annual event. He reported that the planned theme of the 2008 annual meeting was “The Power of Collaborative Innovation” but the current economic situation, including the subprime mortgage crisis and fears of a recession in the United States, was a principal topic. close
