President Bush and the first lady welcomed an audience of women dignitaries to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. The president talked about women in history who have made a difference, and about U.S. programs in Africa and elsewhere that aid women and promote women’s rights. He also spoke about the accomplishments of women such as Madawi Hassoun of Saudi Arabia, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia, and others.
